Darley Abbey
Darley Abbey's industrial history began in the monastic period, expanding in the 17th-18th centuries with water-powered mills. Thomas Evans built the "Boar's Head Mills" for cotton thread production between 1782-1830. Originally water-powered, the mills later used steam. Textile operations ceased in 1970, and the site now hosts businesses, entertainment, and offices.
